Sewage, Desalination, and Water & Waste Water Transfer Pumps

How can we help you?

Albin Pump manufactures reliable hose pumps that are ideal for fluid transfer and dosing in water and wastewater treatment (WWT) plants. One of the best reasons to select our hose pumps for your pumping solution is for the long hose life and low maintenance needed. Our hose pumps require less repair time, which creates a better total cost of ownership compared to other pumps used in the wastewater treatment process.

Our self-priming wastewater pumps are suitable for low to high pressure (up to 15 bar or 217 PSI) fluid transfer applications. The ALX hose pump series can generate flow rates up to 150 m3/h (660 GPM). Whether you need high flow, high pressure, or a low pressure pump, Albin Pump has a fluid flow solution for you.

Peristaltic pump technology is used in chemical metering and chemical injection for its ability to handle a wide range of fluids and fluid properties. Our water and wastewater pumps can transfer viscous and abrasive fluids with ease. Our ALP series pumps are often selected as the chemical dosing pump for water treatment plant disinfection due to the hose and insert material options available.

The ALH hose pump series can be used as a sewage pump or sludge transfer pump for sludge treatment and reprocessing. Albin Pump has many ideal solutions for municipal and industrial water treatment plants.

Our hose pumps and tube pumps can be configured with a variety of options for your needs. Our electric pumps can be controlled with a variable frequency drive or can be provided with a fixed-speed drive.

There are many accessories and connections available depending on your system set-up. Our portfolio includes leak detection, pulsation dampeners, flanged/NPT connections, stainless steel, polypropylene and PVDF inserts, and much more.

How Do Peristaltic Pumps Work?

The rollers or shoes move fluid through the hose or tube, so there is no need for degassing valves. The rollers squeeze the tube to prevent backflow, removing the need for mechanical seals, creating a seal-less system.

The rollers compress the hose and eliminate internal back-flow through the pump. They work like a rotary pinch valve with ±1% repeatability. The movement of the roller or shoe rotation controls the direction of fluid flow, with no internal valves needed.

Typical Peristaltic Pump Applications in the Water & Waste Water Treatment Process

  • Transfer, dosing, truck off-loading, and recirculating lime milk or lime slurry
  • Dosing sodium hypochlorite for disinfection
  • Dosing potassium hydroxide for disinfection
  • Dosing sodium bisulfite for pH adjustments
  • Transferring dewatered sludge for disposal
  • Transferring activated sludge during secondary treatment
  • Ferric chloride and alum injection in primary treatment
  • Sludge clarifiers in primary treatment plants to remove suspended solids
  • Sodium hydroxide for pH control and cyanide removal
  • Adding fluoride to the public water supply in the tertiary treatment stage to improve drinking water quality
  • Lime milk or lime slurry transfer for pH adjustment
  • Powder activated carbon for odor control in tertiary treatment
  • Anionic and cationic polymer injection for phosphate removal, coagulation, and filtration
  • Potassium permanganate for oxidation and disinfection

Peristaltic Pump Working Principle

Why Choose Albin Pump Industrial Hose Pumps for Your Water & Waste Water Pump Needs?

  • Peristaltic pumps function using a simple working principle.
  • Peristaltic pumps have fewer mechanical parts than other pump technologies, decreasing the service required for worn parts.
  • The rollers or shoes rotate to compress the hose to move the fluid.
  • Fluid does not touch any part of the pump, except the inner surface of the hose or tube.
  • Our hose pumps are able to self-prime or dry prime, which prevents off-gassing lock-ups that may occur with sodium hypochlorite applications.
  • Our peristaltic pumps can run dry without harming the pump or hose.
  • The hose and tube have excellent chemical resistance and abrasion resistance to lime milk or lime slurry.
  • Hose pumps are great for shear-sensitive fluids, such as polymers. They can gently transfer products without damaging the structure (polymer chains, for example).
  • Reduced hose wear: Our natural rubber hose is highly resistant to abrasion and has a longer hose life, resulting in less service needed.
  • Easy and fast maintenance: Scheduled service consists of a simple hose change-out, yielding a lower total cost of ownership.
  • Dosing applications typically use integrated Variable Speed Drives (VSD) and/or customer PLC to control the flow rate more accurately than with a fixed-speed drive.
  • Flow can occur in either direction through the hose. This bi-directional flow enables a user to easily clean the hose by flushing the lines and the process piping system.

How to Select the Right Hose for Your Pump

Selecting the best hose or tube is important to guarantee long life and a low maintenance pump system. The inner lining of the hose is the only surface that comes into contact with the fluid being transferred. We offer many hose material options depending on your pumping needs.

Our engineered hoses are designed to create a combination of mechanical and chemical characteristics to handle demanding applications. Hoses can have 2 to 6 inner reinforcement layers and are selected based on hose material and size.

Our wide range of hose materials and sizes, along with drive-options, pump accessories and connections, are perfect for the needs of a wastewater treatment pump. Contact your local Albin Pump representative to learn more about the options we can provide.
